No more yellowing on oak

HYPERION TI 130 is our innovative isolation product for perfect wood surfaces stained white

Now you can outsmart the tanning agents

The processing and creation of high-quality wood surfaces pose major challenges, in particular on tannin-rich woods like oak. Hesse HYPERION TI 130 is setting new standards in this respect: it’s an innovative, water-based isolation product that was specifically developed for application involving white-pigmented Hydro stains. Whether pure white stains or pastel tones – HYPERION provides a reliable solution that prevents yellowing to ensure a permanent, radiant result, which is a breakthrough in the refinement of wood.

The challenge: discolorations due to tanning agents

Woods like oak contain tannins that can result in unsightly yellowing when using Hydro stains. These discolorations not only impair the aesthetics, they also complicate processing because additional steps are required to assure surface quality.

The answer until now often involved resorting to solvent-based finishing procedures to circumvent this problem – an approach that sadly conflicts with modern requirements for sustainability and eco-friendliness.

The solution:

HYPERION TI 130 – Innovation for lasting perfection

HYPERION TI 130 is a specially developed, water-based isolation product that can be used as a crucial component in fully water-based surface finishes. It reliably prevents discolorations due to tanning agents and thus enables brilliant, gleaming white or pastel surfaces – permanently and without compromising quality.

HYPERION TI 130 features easy application and efficiency:

  • Isolation using HYPERION: This product is processed in the same way as a traditional stain – either in the spraying process or directly using a brush. The application quantity is only 50 - 80 g/m².
  • Drying: The isolated surface is ready for the stain after just 2 hours at room temperature.
  • Staining and coating: The stain can be applied as normal. Top coating with either water-based or solvent-based lacquer systems is unproblematically possible.

Our highly effective HYPERION barrier coat ensures that the stain’s white tint remains permanently radiant, insofar as it reliably blocks discolorations caused by substances like tanning agents. At the same time, HYPERION reduces any subsequent roughening of the wood fibres due to a Hydro stain, which results in a smoother surface. There is no need for intermediate sanding of the isolation coat. You can however give it a light smoothing if you wish.

A small step with a huge impact – integrating HYPERION TI 130 into the staining process only represents a minor change in procedure and extends it by a maximum of one additional process step depending on your previous method. Users who until now have been applying solvent-based systems will find that, for the first time, HYPERION gives them the option of achieving a fully water-based finishing procedure – with lasting radiant results, top quality and a clear focus on eco-friendliness.
