Conifer relief finish

A striking effect for the modern country style

Softwood surfaces in a relief look

Description/features: A modern, two-tone effect on fine-grained and heavily-textured conifer.

Areas of use: Unusual, creative accents for interiors, etc.

How to – Conifer relief finish

Sample process:

conifer relief finish, anthracite

  • Substrate material: fine-grained pine/fir, solid wood Texture the veneer to a depth of at least 0.7 mm,
  • preferably 1 mm, with Andalon brushes
  • Prime with one or two thick coats of FANTASTIC-FILL DP 4755-9343 mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4071 1 : 1 thinned with PU Thinner DV 4900
  • Dry for at least 16 hours
  • Sand with grain 150 to produce an effect until the hard growth rings are exposed untreated
  • Spray on one coat of Relief glaze WR 1005 anthracite and wipe until initially dry and, if necessary, mist again lightly with the relief stain
  • Dry for at least 3 hours at room temperature 20 °C
  • Apply two top coats, with intermediate sanding grain 320,
  • using FANTASTIC-NATURA DA 48660 mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4071
  • Dry for at least 16 hours at room temperature 20 °C

Particular instructions:
  • Besides selection and texturing of the bare wood, the application quantity and sanding of the basecoat also have a crucial influence on the effect produced.
  • Relief glaze standard colours:
  • WR 1001 terracotta, dark
  • WR 1002 freesia blue
  • WR 1003 freesia green
  • WR 1004 terracotta, light
  • WR 1005 anthracite
  • WR 1006 grey beige
  • PU lacquers should not be processed and dried at material/room temperatures below 18 °C.
  • PU lacquered surfaces should be freshly sanded before finishing to avoid adhesion problems.
  • Please conduct a test coating under real conditions.
