Processing information The crack formation of Hesse Icecrack ZD 3993 depends on the application quantity and the drying of the selected Hesse colour lacquer. The thinner the lacquer application of ZD 3993, the finer the desired cracks will be. Icecrack ZD 3993 should be applied to the color lacquer without lacquer sanding within 2 to 5 h / 20 °C. The addition of 5% Retarder DV 4909 to the lacquer / hardener mixture is required for larger areas.

Procedure example

Property-related ice-crack effect in dull matt

Basecoat: 1 x 250 g/m² Hesse PU Isolating filler DP 4791-9343, mixing ratio (by volume) 4 : 1 with Hesse PU Hardener DR 4058 and the addition of 10 - 15 % Thinner DV 4900 to the lacquer/hardener mixture

Drying: > 5 h / 20 °C, preferably 16 h / 20 °C

Filler sanding: 320 - 400 grit (dust removal)

Colour lacquer coating: 1 x 115 g/m² Hesse UNA-COLOR DB 45245-9016, mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with Hesse PU Hardener DR 4070 and the addition of 10 - 20 % Thinner DV 4900 to the lacquer/hardener mixture

Drying: > 2 - 5 h / 20 °C

No lacquer sanding!

Effect coating: 1 x 115 g/m² Hesse Icecrack ZD 3993, mixing ratio (by volume) 1 : 1 with Hesse PU Hardener DR 4032

Drying: > 16 h / 20 °C

Creating a coloured effect: 1 x 10 g/m² Hesse Wiping stain TD 4220-9005 (rag application)

Drying: > 2 -4 h / 20 °C

Top coat: 1 x 90 - g/m² Hesse UNA-PUR DE 42590, mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with Hesse PU Hardener DR 4070 and the addition of 5 - 15 % Thinner DV 4900 to the lacquer/hardener mixture

Drying: > 16 h / 20 °C
