How to – PU Sanded metallic
Sample process:
Accents in interiors in brushed steel:
- Substrate material: milled, laminated chipboard or MDF board, treated with filler and milled
- Prime with one coat of 150 - 200 g/m² PU Isolating filler DP 4791-9343 mixing ratio (by volume) 4 :1 with PU Hardener DR 4058 if necessary with the addition of 10 % PU thinner DV 4900
- Dry for at least 16 hours at 20 °C
- Sand according to the effect desired with grain 80 - 180 in one direction
- Apply a top coat of 80 to 120 g/m² of PU Sanded metallic DB 46777-M0790 silver, applying from both sides along the sanding direction, mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 if necessary with the addition of 5 – 10 % PU Thinner DV 4900
- optionally apply a top coat of either UNA-PUR DE 42599 glossy or DE 42594 silky matt after a maximum of 2 hours, without sanding between coats mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070
- Dry for at least 16 hours at room temperature 20 °C

The effect depends on the selected effect sanding and the application quantity of Metallic lacquer. PU lacquers should not be processed and dried at material/room temperatures below 18 °C. PU lacquered surfaces should be freshly sanded before finishing to avoid adhesion problems. We recommend using a soft duster for normal dry cleaning. Microfibre or leather cloths are suitable for damp cleaning. Dampen the cloth with water, wring it out and damp clean. Harsh household cleaners or abrasive substances are not suitable! Please apply a test coating under real conditions!
