How to – weathered oak

Sample process:

Weathered oak, light:

  • Substrate material: oak in solid wood or slip-matched veneer with a veneer thickness of at least 0.7 mm, preferably 1 mm
  • preferably 1 mm, with Andalon brushes
  • Spray on two coats of Antique Pre-Stain WAV58-20506 until nicely damp, without wiping
  • Dry for at least 3 hours at room temperature 20 °C
  • Sand with sanding sponge grain 150 to produce an effect
  • Spray on one coat of Antique Post-Stain WA 58-20504 until nicely damp, with wiping
  • Dry for at least 3 hours at room temperature 20 °C
  • Apply two top coats, with intermediate sanding grain 320,
  • using FANTASTIC-NATURA DA 48660 mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4071
  • Dry for at least 16 hours at room temperature 20 °C

Please observe the latest technical information and the material safety data sheets for the stated individual products.

Particular instructions

• In addition to selection and texturing of the bare wood, the application quantity and sanding of the stain also have a crucial influence on the effect produced.
• PU lacquers should not be used or dried at material or room temperatures below 18°C.
• Please sand back the PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply coatings to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible to avoid adhesion problems. 
• Final hardness of the coating is achieved after one week in correct storage conditions (at least 20 °C room temperature).
• Please conduct a test coating under real conditions.

Please follow the precise specifications for addition of hardeners and thinners.
